THE IMPORTANCE OF LIGHT IN THE CANCER TREATMENT Have you ever heard about the use of light to fight against cancer? Probably, most of you do not know about  Photodynamic Therapy (PDT). This therapy combines the use of light and the use of drugs (known as Photosentitizers) that are activated under light irradiation. These "activated drugs'' react with oxygen inside the cancer cells to produce toxic species and leading to the death of the cell.  This therapy presents a lot of advantages. Some of the most relevant are the following: 1- Te tumor can be targeted very precisely. 2- PDT is less invasive than surgery. 3- Less side effects. 4- It can be repeated many times if it is needed.
